Thoughts on 2 Corinthians 1

  • God comforts us in our affliction (trouble) so that we too may comfort others.
  • Christians will have, in abundance, both Christ’s suffering and comfort.
  • These happen so that we will learn to rely not on our own strength, but on God’s.
  • Testimony of Paul’s conscience: a life that is simple, sincere, relying on God’s grace.

  • An awesome, effective idea: Songs that remind us of specific times of God’s love and faithfulness. Songs not only are easier to remember, they also are capable of carrying emotion more than just the written word.
  • There’s a good deal of commandments on unintentional sin – maybe because we do it more often than we think. That is a good prayer, that God exposes those unintentional sins and that we will act in repentance.
