Psalms 96

  • Sing to the Lord , bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. (Psalms 96:2 ESV) Where would I be without the Lord? Without His grace? Without His guidance? Knowing my disposition and tendencies, I would’ve been in a sad, purposeless life. I would not have all these blessings – my family especially. Sure, I would be able to fake happiness and being a good guy on the outside, but in my heart would reign selfish thoughts. To think that the Creator, the Lord of heaven and earth, would even consider me. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised! (Psalms 96:4a ESV)

As an employee (yes, “slave”), if you put your faith in people to reward you for your passion, loyalty and hard work.. you may be disappointed.

Don’t hold it against them. Put your faith in God, He will not disappoint.

Slaves, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. (Colossians 3:22-24 ESV)

Tired and sleep deprived, rushing to get to my 8:30 appointment – and almost blacking out in the train – what sustained me is prayer and God’s strength. Praise God that the proposal was accepted, and although it’s still not closed, I know He will continue to sustain me all throughout. I thank God for lifting my spirits and being able to talk with my wife and seeing my son.

Pulling an “all-nighter”

Pro: Can get so much done because of the long stretch of uninterrupted time.

Con: Energy and concentration levels becomes very low after, so this is difficult if there is no time to recuperate.

Best: Be able to have stretches of uninterrupted time during regular work hours < I should strive for this.
